Miaoli City Plant
Several
years ago, three of our workers from the Toufen Team launched out to
establish a church planting beachhead in Miaoli City. Known as the
center of Hakka culture, this capital city of about 89,000 people is
tightly bound by the worship of false gods, ghosts, and ancestors. Well,
after six years of tilling the ground, sowing tons of gospel seeds, and
watering like crazy, the fruit is finally falling off the trees. We're
very happy to report that a healthy cell church of about ten local
adults has been firmly planted in this hard-to-reach community.
Things have been going so well, in fact, that six members
of the missionary team recently moved on to pioneer a new work in
Gungguan. That leaves the Heaths and
the Hughes to "hold down the fort" in
Miaoli City - working diligently to raise up and support the newborn
church there.
And what that means is lots and lots of
evangelism, intercession, discipleship of young believers, raising up of
leaders, and helping the fellowship to establish a solid identity as a
local Hakka Chinese body.
